The wildfire that’s been burning across Dewey County for nearly two weeks is now almost contained.
Rain is not the only relief families are getting in Dewey County after a week of massive wildfires.
Firefighters are hoping that Saturday’s rain will help them gain more ground on the wildfires continuing to burn in western Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management says the largest fire, near Seiling, is now 25 percent contained.
The largest wildfire in the state has spread 34,000 acres in just last 24 hours. According to the Oklahoma Forestry Service, the Rhea Fire in Dewey County has now burned more than 283,095 acres total.
